Thursday, Sept. 20: Diane Wilson will present at the “Ask an Author” event at the Franklin Library at the Four Sisters Farmers Market, 1414 E. Franklin Ave., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wilson is an award-wining authors whose books include Spirit Car and Beloved Child; she also contributed to the anthology “A Good Time for the Truth.”
Thursday, Sept. 27: Scholar, human rights activist, and author Dr. Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz will speak about “The White Supremacist Roots of the Second Amendment” in support of her new book “Loaded: A Disarming History of the Second Amendment.” Dunbar-Ortiz also is the author of “An Indigenous Peoples History of the United States. The event will be held at First Unitarian Society, 900 Mount Curve Ave, Minneapolis, reception at 5:30 p.m., lecture at 7 p.m. Reception includes a light supper catered by the Sioux Chef and a chance to meet Dr. Dunbar-Ortiz starting at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7: Indigenous Peoples Day events will include this free weekend festival, including an art market, interactive workshops, indigenous food and music. It will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 7, from noon to 5 p.m. at various sites along the American Indian Cultural Corridor, near Franklin and Bloomington avenues in Minneapolis.
Artists and performers include: Supaman, Annie Humphrey, Rob Fairbanks (aka Rez Reporter), Tall Paul, Crystal Norcross, Jackie Bird, Pretendians, and Sam Mitchell Dance.
